I believe that skilled therapy should be available and affordable to everyone, no matter your current circumstances.

I usually advise that we work to weekly 50-minute sessions whenever possible. You may choose to have more, or less sessions, but I find that weekly appointments work well towards meeting my patients’ goals.

In order to maximise the benefits of therapy, I recommend that couples sessions should ideally be 90 minutes long. 

I reserve a set number of slots per week for students and individuals/couples on benefits whom I can provide a 50% discount to. Please note that these slots are available on a first-come-first-serve basis. In order to reserve them I will need to see either a student ID or proof of receipt of benefits.

Two slots are available every week to an individual/couple that are pro bono (free) on a discretionary basis. Please contact me to enquire further.

I’m James,  a psychosexual therapist specialising in, and inspired by all aspects of human connection and sexuality.

In 15 years as a psychotherapist and sexologist, I’ve helped individuals and couples hailing from every walk of life, sexual orientation, relationship configuration, and gender identity. From overcoming anxiety, depression, or mental health issues to finding renewed sexual fulfilment, my work has allowed me to empower my clients across a wide array of psychological and sexual challenges.

I offer advice and support based on my training and experience, both in professional practice and my own life. I use a secure web meeting platform that is free and easy to access on your PC, Mac, Android, or iOS device. In our first session together I’ll show you how to set things up at no charge.

You may sometimes find yourself in a place or time where access to a webcam or smartphone is limited. Some clients find that initially discussing more sensitive topics by phone works better for them. Others have have accessibility requirements that limit them from video or keyboard use. Therapy by phone is extremely effective and I’ll ensure that you always feel safe and welcome to speak freely.

Text / IM Chat

Online chat platforms have evolved greatly and now offer 100% secure and private tools for us to use in counselling. Alternatively, this can be a great option if you have any hearing difficulties or simply prefer to use messaging services to communicate.

Email

It can be very beneficial to use email as a counselling tool, either as a stand-alone option, or in addition to other methods of communication. Many of my clients who prefer counselling by email report that they enjoy the additional time to think about their responses, as well as to have a written reply to refer back to. I don’t charge to read emails. You will only pay the minimum of either the time in minutes it takes to respond or the capped cost of a 50-minute session in case it takes longer than 50 minutes.

Group Sessions

Couples therapy can be a nightmare in terms of scheduling group sessions. Counselling Online (especially for long-distance relationships) eases this challenge and enables us to find convenient slots that work for everyone. Whether by webcam, phone, chat, or email, I have great tools and methods that we can set up in minutes to get started quickly.

If you prefer meeting face-to-face, I hold weekly consultations at my offices in Wimbledon and Central London. Please contact me should prefer to meet there.

What if I can't afford therapy?

I believe that skilled therapy should be available and affordable to everyone, no matter your current circumstances. Your first consultation will always be free.

Do you do Couples Therapy?

Absolutely. Couples Therapy and Relationship Therapy can play a vital role in the future success of a relationship. It’s often the belief that only couples who struggle, go for therapy. In fact, many couples I see contact me to improve already-healthy relationships further, while others have past issues to sort through. In both cases, online counselling can play a vital role in the happiness of all partners.

Do I have to be referred by my GP?

No – if you feel that you’d like to begin counselling, feel free to contact me directly. Referrals are welcome, but are by no means required.

What types of therapy do you do?

I provide psychotherapy, couples/relationship counselling, sex therapy, and coaching. My approach is pragmatic and includes not only questions directed at you, but also assistance in reaching an achievable plan that can be accomplished across a realistic space of time. I offer advice based on my training and experience, both professionally and in my private life. My goal is to help my clients achieve rewarding relationships, fulfilling sex, balanced thinking and emotions, and to achieve the goals you set in your life.

How often do I need to have a session?

In order to reach your goals as soon as possible, I recommend having at least one session per week. These will usually be on the same day and time. We can also customise your therapy to include more slots, should you wish. I’ll share my mobile number with you at the beginning of therapy. You’re welcome to message me in between sessions for ongoing support, and I’ll get back to you before the end of the day. Please do not be worried to contact me–I’m here to help.
